As the perfect location between St. Paul and Mankato, Belle Plaine started as a pit stop for fur traders in the 1840’s and finally became the City of Belle Plaine in 1855. Belle Plaine was listed as the only borough in the state of Minnesota till 1974 when they finally became a city. Belle Plaine today has a variety of restaurants, and local attractions, and is continuing to grow.
